Aux Tableaux ! is a giant street art project located in the heart of Marseille, south of France, in the former school Saint Thomas d’Aquin, which stretches over 4,500 m2 and includes an entire school complex: kindergarten, primary, middle school and high school! This school closed since 2012 has allowed Alexandre d’Alessio, art director of the event, and the Juxtapoz association, to create an artistic residence, combining temporary exhibition open to the public and multidisciplinary events, inviting many artists from the street art scene to invest the classrooms, corridors or the different playgrounds.
The street artists, including Remy Uno, Jean Faucheur, Jace, LX One, Niark, Steph Moscato, Heng, GodDog and many other, are falling back in childhood to imagine artworks and installations inspired by their years toward education, sometimes funny, touching or tragic.
The exhibition is open to the public until October 10th (23 rue Dieudé, 13006 Marseille), and I definitely recommend you to go there! Wandering in the rooms of this abandoned school looking for the installations and creations is a treat. More information on the project website Aux Tableaux !.
