To celebrate the great warrior Guan Yu (162-219), now assimilated as the god of war, China has unveiled a massive and impressive statue of 1,320 tons, built in the city of Jingzhou in the Hubei province. Measuring 58 meters high, this imposing statue pays tribute to Guan Yu, a real character from the end of the Han Dynasty, early deified, whose life was told in The Romance of Three Kingdoms, written by Luo Guan Zhong between 1279 and 1368, and which is considered as one of the four greatest classic novels of China.
