Literally Balling – An artist is turning basketball backboards into luxury objects

2015-08-24 // art design

With his Literally Balling project, artist and designer Victor Solomon turns basketball backboards into luxury objects, bartering traditional wood or plexiglas for the finest materials. Inspired by the stained glass windows of churches and cathedrals, Victor Solomon transposes the cult devoted to sports and athletes, playing between the proletarian drift of basketball and elitism of luxury, paradoxically making these basketball backboards fragile and therefore unusable.
