A giant Mashup of Every Anime Opening Ever Made !

A giant Mashup of Every Japanese Anime Opening Ever Made ! This video reunite all the classic elements you can found in nearly every anime openings. A great video by Derek Lieu. (list of the used animes beneath)

It’s always amused me the repeated imagery that exist in anime opening credit sequences. This video doesn’t cover them all, but it has a lot of the big ones. Interesting thing I learned, if a character is running it’s overwhelmingly to the left of the screen.

Wow. This is an amazing mashup that demonstrates the rhetorical visual tropes of a genre (here, Anime). I’ll use this in my digital storytelling course to make this concept visible. Thanks for sharing. btw, I wonder if anyone has done research on why they are overwhelmingly running to the left? Interesting…

This is amazing — Thanks for sharing, and kudos to the creator!! Two things I’d like to know though: Does anybody know what the name of the song is? And also, what is the name of the anime shown right at the end (the two angels)?

In Europe, when you draw a character running, it’s overwhelmingly to the right. That’s because of the reading direction. If he goes to the right, it feels like he’s going away, if he goes to the left, it feels like he’s coming back.
I think it’s the same reason here, but as mangas are read from right to left, in anime they run to the left. Just my opinion.

Franchement j’adore les mangas, mais des fois (trop souvent) qu’est ce que ça peut culcul la praline…
Ca me rappel une époque où je détestais les mangas juste pour ça ..

maybe they all are running to the left like the way they all write

    Where’s Utena?

Quel rapport avec les mangas ? Ils parlent d’animé japonais ?

Is there anything in this mashup that pre-dates the early to mid-nineties? I’m certain everything I’ve seen in this is taken from the nineties and early 2000’s. I don’t recognize anything from sixties, seventies, or eighties anime.

c’est là que je m’inquiète, j’en connais un peu trop dans le tas
