Faces of British criminal women from 1900

Here’s what looked like the British criminal women in the 1900s! These vintage portraits are from a photo album of prisoners, brought before the police court of North Shields in the 1900s. Most of these women were arrested for shoplifting and larceny. A series of photos from the collection of the Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums, also published on their Flickr. And if you love vintage crime, I also recommend you The Gangsters from 1900 to 1950 or the tragic past of New York replaced in the present.
