Photographer explores what happens to dancers when they stop moving

2016-04-19 // art photography

With his series entitled Flocks, the photographer Nir Arieli has captured companies of dancers piled on each other, creating surreal tangle of human bodies sculpted by immobility. Some amazing compositions of dancers, usually characterized by energy and movement, revealing a complex sensuality and a fascinating languor. A series created in collaboration with the dancers of Shen Wei Dance Arts and Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal, but also many other companies. The photos of Nir Arieli will soon be exhibited at the Daniel Cooney Fine Art gallery in New York.
