Inherit the Dust – Installing portraits of animals in their devastated habitats

2016-02-29 // art photography popular

For his Inherit the Dust project, the photographer Nick Brandt installed portraits of animals in their devastated habitats, revealing the dramatic deterioration of wildlife habitats in East Africa. Started three years ago, the project showcases life-sized photographs of animals placed carefully in these landscapes transformed by man. The photographer Nick Brandt then capture these compositions with a medium format film camera, revealing the impressive contrasts between these former wilderness and their current appearance into powerful images. The photographs of the project will be exhibited at the Fahey/Klein Gallery in Los Angeles, from March 24 to May 14, 2016, but are also published in his book Inherit the Dust.
